UP CLOSE & PERSONAL
Dr. Jordan Walterscheid Short was born and raised in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 2010. She attended Texas A&M University and earned her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology in 2014. Dr. Short moved back to Amarillo following graduation and began working at a local dental practice before completing her own dental education and training at The University of Texas at San Antonio School of Dentistry.
Dr. Short’s passion for dentistry began when her high school art teacher, Mrs. Kelley, advised her to consider the profession as it would be a perfect mix of her three favorite subjects: science, art, and socializing. Dentistry has provided Dr. Short with a genuinely rewarding career by enabling her to return home to provide quality dental care for her beloved panhandle community.
In an odd twist of fate, Dr. Short first met her husband, Paxton, in dental school even though they had both attended Amarillo High School and Texas A&M University. They married shortly after graduation in the fall of 2021 and continued to live and work in San Antonio, Texas. The Short’s made their big move back to their hometown of Amarillo in February of 2022, and Dr. Short excitedly joined the Brady Dental family soon after. In May of 2023 Dr. Short and her husband welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Vander. Together they maintain a busy household with their new baby and three fur-babies: the two most angelic dogs, Rhode (Alaskan Malamute) and Maggie (Labrador Retriever), and one evil fur ball with teeth named MoMo (tabby cat).
When not practicing dentistry Dr. Short loves spending time with her family and friends, traveling to tropical destinations, golfing, skiing (on blue bird days specifically), exploring Palo Duro Canyon, and hunting for the best local restaurants! The Short’s are thrilled to be planting their roots and growing their family in the wonderful Texas Panhandle!
